Bexleyheath High Streets For All – Design

Working alongside We Made That and Bohemia Place Market, POoR was appointed to deliver Bexleyheath’s High Streets for All programme. For this project, we lead the co-design of public realm interventions such as seating, flags, wayfinding banners, and gaming tables. During workshops, events, and planning sessions we worked with young people and residents from the local area and came up with designs that spoke to the culture, identity, and history of Bexleyheath. Flags included faces of prominent figures in Bexley such as singer-songwriter Kate Bush, world champion boxer David Haye, and rapper Darkoo.

The feedback from the school students and older generation was that they all wanted a provision of alternative routes from school to the bus stops along the main high street. The final result was a clever series of playful interventions that would help dilute the number of young people arriving at the Market Place throughout the day.
