Unheard Voices of the City is a public installation that honours the vital yet often invisible contributions of night-shift workers in the City of London. Created collaboratively by POoR Collective and local workers, the project spotlights hospital staff, hospitality employees, cleaners, market traders, and construction crews who keep the city functioning while it sleeps.
Through creative workshops, participants shared stories of connection, pride, and the challenges of working through the night. Their reflections, drawings, and quotes are featured across two outdoor pavilions designed by Wiggle Wonderland. The installation is complemented by a series of free, drop-in public events.
Commissioned for the London Festival of Architecture, this project is a partnership between London Museum and Culture Mile Business Improvement District (BID), with support from the City of London Corporation’s Community Infrastructure Levy Neighbourhood Fund and public funding from Arts Council England. It stands as a tribute to resilience, dignity, and unseen labour.
