The People’s Pavilion Exhibition

For the People’s Pavilion Exhibition, POoR curated an exhibition to celebrate each of the nine design submissions by young people aged between 14-19 for the inaugural edition of the competition. Working in collaboration with Beyond The Box for the London Festival of Architecture, this interactive exhibition allowed the public to vote for the design they wanted to see built. The nine designs received more than 1200 public votes over a three week period. The winning Pavilion was built at Here East in August 2021 and hosted a 10-day festival curated by a team of emerging cultural producers from across East London.

The winning team were Shahriyar Ahmed (18), Samira Elbahja (17) and Dellilah Jamal (17) with their design ‘The Reverie’. The trio were also awarded a £2,000 prize. The People’s Pavilion is a bold take on co-design which seeks to platform and upskill teenagers.
