Mitcham Colour-Way

Mitcham Colour-Way is a mural designed by young people in South West London. The project is a collaboration with MA Architecture Royal College of Art students and a set of young designers to uplift a neglected alleyway in Mitcham. During a series of workshops that were hosted at the Royal College of Art and multidisciplinary practice RESOLVE’s studio in Croydon, South London, students worked up a design that spoke to the identity of Mitcham. The result was a colourful mural that speaks to the green spaces in the local area, the lavender fields and the old gas holders.

Once the design was complete the young people came down to Mitcham and painted their design onto the alleyway walla. Over a few days they had transformed an unloved piece of public realm into a much loved conduit to different parts of Mitcham.
