Carney’s Mural

Carney’s Mural is a new vibrant installation at Carney's Community youth centre in South West London. Working in collaboration with the Royal College of Art, Wandsworth Council, and young people from the centre, POoR co-designed a colourful piece of art that showcased key aspects of the local community. During a series of workshops in the half term, we asked teenagers what they would like to see on the exterior wall of the Battersea-based youth facility. Working alongside these young people we then helped them to work up their ideas and create a design that everyone was happy with.

Each of the icons that make up the mural represent a key aspect of Carney’s Community from cooking to music. Carney's Community is a registered charity that gets disadvantaged and excluded young people off the street and away from a life of crime and despair by giving them skills, discipline and self respect.
